Matthew Donnelly M.M.
10th Bn. Scottish Rifles (Cameronians)
From Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland
Awarded Military Medal for Gallantry. War diary mentions the award 19th May 1917. London Gazette 6th July 1917
"For services in the field Pte. Matthew Donnelly, son of Mrs. Donnelly, 17 Maxwellton Street, Paisley, has been granted the Military Medal. Before enlisting Pte. Donnelly, who is 23 years of age, was an employee of Messrs. J. & P. Coats, Paisley."
- Daily Record 16th June 1917. 4 days later in the same newspaper there appears a photograph of Pte. Donnelly.
Posted as "Missing" in November 1918. Chances are he was taken POW during the very final days of the war and therefore there are no German records to confirm this. Only casualty lists. They state he re-joined Feb 1919.
