WW2 British Medal Pair - George Edward Borroff, Royal Air Force

George Edward Borroff was born on 12 March 1922 and served with the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. He enlisted at Cardington, joining the RAF after April 1940, and was later appointed as a Class F Reservist, indicating continued post-service liability following release from active duty.

His entitlement to the Defence Medal and War Medal 1939–45 reflects qualifying wartime service with the RAF during the home and wider defence period of the conflict. The medals were issued unnamed, as standard, and are accompanied by the original box of issue, addressed to:

G. E. Borroff, Esq.
19 Millwood Road
St. Paul’s Cray
Kent

George Borroff survived the war and later married in April 1944, settling in Kent, where he lived for many years. He died on 24 February 2018, aged 95.

A tidy and complete RAF wartime entitlement, enhanced by its correctly addressed original issue box, offering clear provenance to an identifiable Second World War airman.
