WW1 Memorial Plaque Card Envelope – Original Outer Issue Sleeve
A genuine First World War card envelope issued as the outer protective sleeve for the large bronze Memorial Plaques (commonly known as “Death Pennies”). These envelopes were part of the original packaging sent to the next of kin of fallen servicemen and women between 1919 and the early 1920s.
Made of light brown card, these envelopes are now increasingly hard to find, as the majority were discarded once the plaque was removed. Surviving examples are sought after by collectors wishing to complete groups.
This is an original period envelope and shows the expected age and handling wear fully consistent with its age.
An ideal addition for restoring or completing a WW1 Memorial Plaque set.
