Wounded in Action 2nd September 1916 - Battle of the Somme. Serving with the 'C' Coy., 17th (Football) Bn. Middlesex Regiment (attd from the 4th/7th)

Severe gun shot sound to left thigh

Later went on with his platoon in the 4th Middlesex to win the Army Rifle Association Medal in France July 1918
