First World War British 1914 Mons Star and Victory Medal

William Cashman

Born Deptford, Kent

Pre war regular professional soldier with the Coldstream Guards. Enlisted 27th April 1908.

To France 12th August 1914 with 2nd Bn. Coldstream Guards. 

Wounded in Action November 1914 - evacuated home 17th November 1914

Back to France with 1st Bn. CG 24th Feb 1915 

Wounded in Action again 9th March 1915 - Gun shot wound left leg, evacuated home

Back to France with 2nd Bn. CG 19th Oct 1915

Wounded in Action again 12th September 1916 - Gun shot wound left thigh and back, evacuated home

Leg wounds were very severe, transferred to Royal Defence Corps October 1918

 

Died in 1950, as a result of Wounds received in 1916 (newspaper states 1917 but this is incorrect)
