British Miniature Medal Group of Five – BEM, General Service Medal (4 Clasps), South Atlantic Medal (rosette), Silver Jubilee 1977, Royal Navy LSGC
A truly fascinating and highly unusual miniature medal group of five, comprising:
- British Empire Medal (BEM)
- General Service Medal with four clasps – BORNEO, RADFAN, SOUTH ARABIA & NORTHERN IRELAND
- South Atlantic Medal with rosette (Falklands War)
- Queen’s Silver Jubilee Medal 1977
- Royal Navy Long Service & Good Conduct Medal
Mounted on a single bar with correct ribbons, this is an exceptionally rare and characterful combination, spanning almost three decades of distinguished Royal Navy or Royal Marines service. Groups showing four GSM clasps alongside a South Atlantic Medal with rosette (indicating service south of Ascension Island during the 1982 Falklands War) are uncommon in any form—encountering them in miniature is even more scarce, and almost certainly represents a very decorated senior rating or NCO.
The clasp entitlement tells its own story:
Borneo, Radfan and South Arabia reflect Cold War-era operations in the Far East and Aden theatre during the 1960s, while Northern Ireland points to later counter-insurgency deployments in the 1970s. The addition of a BEM suggests recognised meritorious service or gallant conduct, and the RN LSGC confirms a long and steady naval career. The Jubilee Medal further anchors the timeline, aligning perfectly with a lengthy, operationally active service profile.
Miniature groups with such depth are seldom encountered and offer a rich research opportunity for collectors, with real potential to identify the original recipient through medal rolls, the London Gazette (for the BEM), and campaign medal records.
A striking and almost certainly unique miniature group, ideal for collectors of Royal Navy medals, Falklands War material, GSM clasp combinations, or research-led groups.
