Commissioned on 28th March 1918
Entered France on 18th May 1918, serving on the Western Front during the final phases of the First World War. Officers in the ASC were essential to the functioning of the British Army, responsible for transport, supply, and logistics in increasingly difficult conditions.
Born 30 November 1880, Mather was a bank clerk at the time of the 1911 Census, living at 24 Keppel Road, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester. His address at the time of commission is recorded as 12 St Brannocks Road, also in Chorlton-cum-Hardy.
After the war, Mather remained in Manchester, becoming a Bank Manager, and by 1939 was living with his wife and two children. He died on 27 November 1959.
