Transferred to the 71st Anti Tank Regiment, Royal Artillery

73 Anti-Tank Regiment, Royal Artillery was formed in November 1940 at Leeds, drawing cadres from 13 and 52 Anti-Tank Regiments. Initially composed of three batteries, a fourth battery was added in September 1942. The regiment saw active service at El Alamein and in Egypt with the 8th Armoured Division, before joining the 8th Army for the campaigns in Sicily and Italy. Later, in the campaign in North West Europe198 and 234 Batteries were detached to 50th (Northumbrian) Division for the D-Day assault, each equipped with 12 x M10 17-pounder tank destroyers. The regiment was disbanded in November 1945.
