From Woolwich, Son of George Thomas and Henrietta Clarkson, of Woolwich; husband of May Clarkson, of 34, Belson Rd., Woolwich Dockyard, London.
Died in November 1917 in Iraq while serving as a Lance Corporal with the 1st/5th Bn., The Buffs (East Kent Regiment)
Buried in Baghdad (North Gate) War Cemetery
He was a pre war soldier with the Worcestershire Regiment (9122, 2nd Bn.) having seen service in India. He tried to join the RHA in 1901 stating his age was 18 when in fact he was only 16. He was discharged after 138 days service before re-enlisting with the Worcestershire Regiment once he was old enough.
