Social.— A dinner and concert were held on Saturday at Mr. Burrell’s poultry farm, Whittlefield. A presentation was made on behalf of the party to Private Thomas Hayhurst of a briar pipe, tobacco pouch, and tobacco to commemorate his 21 years’ service in the 2nd Vol. Batt. East Lancashire Regiment. He is about to receive a long-service medal. Songs, etc., were ably rendered by Messrs. J. Fishwick, A. Clough, and others.
