1911 Coronation Medal – King George V – Official Silver Issue

A fine example of the 1911 Coronation Medal, issued to commemorate the coronation of King George V and awarded to selected military personnel, government officials, colonial representatives, and civic dignitaries attending or connected with the ceremonies of June 1911. Struck in solid silver, the medal bears the conjoined busts of King George V and Queen Mary on the obverse, with the reverse showing the ornate royal cypher and coronation date.

The medal retains excellent detail with crisp portraiture and clean fields, showing light and honest wear consistent with careful handling. The original suspension and ring are intact, and the ribbon remains a good period example of the distinctive blue, white, and red national colours associated with the coronation. The ribbon has been cut at the front but retains the original wearing pin to the rear.

The 1911 Coronation Medal is an iconic pre-Great War award, increasingly sought after by collectors of royal commemoratives and early 20th-century British medals. A pleasing example of a historic ceremonial issue connected to the dawn of the new reign and the final years before the Great War.
