Born in \u003cb\u003eBishopton, Renfrewshire\u003c\/b\u003e, in 1897, he was the son of \u003cb\u003eArchibald Cameron\u003c\/b\u003e and lived at \u003cb\u003e8 Alma Street, Govan, Glasgow\u003c\/b\u003e. He enlisted in \u003cb\u003eGlasgow\u003c\/b\u003e and joined the 10th Cameronians, a New Army battalion of the 15th (Scottish) Division.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif;\"\u003eBy the summer of 1917 the battalion was heavily engaged during the opening stages of the \u003cb\u003eThird Battle of Ypres\u003c\/b\u003e. Cameron was wounded during this period and evacuated through the casualty-clearing chain to \u003cb\u003eLijssenthoek\u003c\/b\u003e, the major medical hub behind the Ypres front. Despite treatment, he \u003cb\u003edied of wounds on 30 July 1917\u003c\/b\u003e, aged only \u003cb\u003e20\u003c\/b\u003e.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif;\"\u003eHe is buried at \u003cb\u003eLijssenthoek Military Cemetery\u003c\/b\u003e, Belgium, one of the largest Commonwealth cemeteries on the Western Front, and is commemorated there at \u003cb\u003ePlot XVI, Row K, Grave 13\u003c\/b\u003e.
