MacIntosh was a \u003cb\u003eScottish Horse\u003c\/b\u003e man in \u003cb\u003eboth conflicts\u003c\/b\u003e, later serving overseas in \u003cb\u003eEgypt\/Palestine\u003c\/b\u003e with mounted formations, transferring to the \u003cb\u003e13th Battalion, The Black Watch (Royal Highlanders)\u003c\/b\u003e, and finishing his war service with the \u003cb\u003eRoyal Engineers Signals\u003c\/b\u003e.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif;\"\u003eThe standout here is the \u003cb\u003eTerritorial Force War Medal\u003c\/b\u003e – \u003cb\u003eone of only 12 awarded to the Scottish Horse\u003c\/b\u003e (a notably scarce regiment for the T.F.W.M.), making this \u003cb\u003ean exceptionally rare\u003c\/b\u003e component and the centrepiece of the group.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif;\"\u003eThe \u003cb\u003eQueen’s South Africa Medal\u003c\/b\u003e is \u003cb\u003eneatly renamed\u003c\/b\u003e, and the reason is fully explainable from his paperwork. The \u003cb\u003emedal roll\u003c\/b\u003e notes his original QSA was \u003cb\u003eissued in 1905 to his address in Kingussie\u003c\/b\u003e. However, a letter within his service record states that his \u003cb\u003eoriginal QSA had been given to his sister\u003c\/b\u003e, and \u003cb\u003eafter her death in 1918 it could not be found or traced\u003c\/b\u003e; he asked whether he could obtain another \u003cb\u003eby paying for it\u003c\/b\u003e, noting that he already had \u003cb\u003ehis two Great War medals\u003c\/b\u003e, and also wishing to claim both the \u003cb\u003eTerritorial Efficiency Medal\u003c\/b\u003e (awarded but never claimed during his time with the \u003cb\u003e4th Seaforths\u003c\/b\u003e) and the \u003cb\u003eTerritorial Force War Medal\u003c\/b\u003e.
