Struck in a light nickel-coloured alloy, the medal shows the United Nations emblem on the obverse, with the reverse carrying the inscription \u003ci\u003e“FOR SERVICE IN DEFENCE OF THE PRINCIPLES OF THE CHARTER OF THE UNITED NATIONS”\u003c\/i\u003e. The surfaces retain good detail and present well, with the original suspension bar intact and ready for replacement ribbon if desired.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif;\"\u003eThe medal was instituted in December 1950 for all UN contingents participating in the Korean War, and British recipients included soldiers, sailors and airmen who served across Korea, Japan, and the surrounding seas during the conflict.
