He was first \u003cb\u003ewounded in action on 24 November 1914\u003c\/b\u003e while serving with the \u003cb\u003e2nd Battalion, Border Regiment\u003c\/b\u003e. Records further note an additional \u003cb\u003ewound sustained during September or October 1916\u003c\/b\u003e, underlining the cumulative physical toll of his wartime service.
