He was \u003cb\u003eborn in South West London\u003c\/b\u003e and later resided in the same area prior to the outbreak of war.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 107%; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif;\"\u003eHe married \u003cb\u003eLena E. Stevens\u003c\/b\u003e in \u003cb\u003eFulham, London in the spring of 1940\u003c\/b\u003e, shortly before or during the early period of his wartime service. Lena had been \u003cb\u003eborn on 18th May 1919\u003c\/b\u003e and in the \u003cb\u003e1939 Register\u003c\/b\u003e was recorded living at \u003cb\u003e55 Sandilands Road, Sands End, Fulham\u003c\/b\u003e, where she worked as a \u003cb\u003efactory hand\u003c\/b\u003e.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 107%; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif;\"\u003eThe \u003cb\u003e4th Battalion, Queen’s Own Royal West Kent Regiment\u003c\/b\u003e was a \u003cb\u003eTerritorial Army unit forming part of the 132nd Infantry Brigade of the 44th (Home Counties) Division\u003c\/b\u003e. After early war service in \u003cb\u003eFrance with the British Expeditionary Force in 1940\u003c\/b\u003e, the battalion returned to Britain and later deployed to the \u003cb\u003eNorth African theatre in 1942\u003c\/b\u003e, where it became involved in the hard-fought \u003cb\u003eWestern Desert campaign\u003c\/b\u003e against Axis forces.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 107%; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif;\"\u003eDuring this campaign \u003cb\u003ePrivate Robinson was captured by Axis forces on 4th September 1942\u003c\/b\u003e, during the fighting in the \u003cb\u003eWestern Desert\u003c\/b\u003e. According to official casualty records he subsequently \u003cb\u003edied of wounds as a Prisoner of War on 10th September 1942\u003c\/b\u003e, just six days after his capture.
