Before the war he worked as a \u003cb\u003emotor driver\u003c\/b\u003e, a trade that would later shape his military service.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif;\"\u003eMorris first served in the \u003cb\u003eLondon Regiment\u003c\/b\u003e, taking part in operations on the Western Front. He was \u003cb\u003ewounded in action\u003c\/b\u003e, with his name appearing on the War Office casualty list of \u003cb\u003e6 October 1916\u003c\/b\u003e, and was authorised to wear a Wound Stripe. After recovering, he returned to duty and continued to serve overseas.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif;\"\u003eIn \u003cb\u003eDecember 1917\u003c\/b\u003e, Morris transferred from the infantry to the \u003cb\u003eRoyal Flying Corps\u003c\/b\u003e, bringing his civilian driving experience into military use as a \u003cb\u003eMotor Transport Driver\u003c\/b\u003e. When the RFC and RNAS merged to form the \u003cb\u003eRoyal Air Force\u003c\/b\u003e on 1 April 1918, he became an \u003cb\u003eAir Mechanic 3rd Class\u003c\/b\u003e, continuing his service through the final year of the war.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif;\"\u003eMorris remained with the RAF until \u003cb\u003eMarch 1919\u003c\/b\u003e, after which he returned to civilian life.
